You are looking in the mirror after washing, oiling and brushing your beard. There’s no doubt that you are looking good and you’re ready for the day. Then you step outside, start walking and then you see it. The perfect beard! Do you have beard envy?
Is it actually a thing?
Absolutely! Beard envy is a real thing. I’ve had it myself before and I felt inadequate in the face of one of the finest beards I have ever seen.
There I was walking around, minding my own business at a train station. Obviously I was waiting for a train but I can’t 
remember which station I was in. I was sporting a pretty decent mane that I was happy with. Content in the knowledge that it was better than the other beards I had seen that day.
So, I look up from my phone and there it was! The beard that my beard wished it could be. It was perfectly shaped and sculpted with a moustache that mere mortals like myself could only dream of having. There weren’t any streaks of grey like mine and it was at exactly the right length.
Yes, I had beard envy! I spent the train journey and the rest of the evening contemplating why I bothered even growing a beard. Mine would never be as good as that one!
Get over it!
The thing is, you shouldn’t worry about what someone else’s beard looks like. Every beard grows in a different way at a different rate.
Focus on what you can do with your beard. Look after it properly, brush it regularly. Don’t overthink it or you will never be happy with what you grow. Your beard is a part of you, literally, and eventually you will find a style and shape that you are happy with.
Don’t be envious of that glorious thick, lustrous, not a hair out-of-place beard. The man who wears it could be a horrible person or a complete idiot. (Highly unlikely with a beard like that!!)
Your beard is yours alone and it is magnificent!
