Onesociety have been around for a while now and I have written an overview about them before. You can read it here. I finally got my hands on some stuff from them thanks to Corie’s generosity! Here’s my Onesociety Beard Oil Review – Outlaws.
What do Onesociety sell?
Onesociety have a good range of products available. From Beard Oil, Butter and Balms to Moustache Wax and Monthly Beard Box subscriptions. There’s plenty to keep your beard looking and smelling great!
I am lucky enough to have received the Outlaws Beard Oil and Butter (review on this later on this year!) from Corie at Onesociety. I have been using the oil for over a week now and here is what I thought of it.
Scent
It doesn’t hit you instantly like some oils, you know the really powerful scents that blast your sinuses into submission. This fragrance starts off quite subtle, building up to a crescendo which lets you take in all the different scents as you apply to your beard.
The lime is refreshing and the sweet rum kicks in with a more mellow fragrance. The 2 together make a nice mix that smells good. Lime is the overriding scent but isn’t overpowering.
Staying Power
I didn’t know what to expect here but I was very happy with the length of time the fragrance lasted. It was still hanging in there after a good 7 hours which is fantastic for an oil in the £10 range.
I put the oil through its paces with long walks on the beach in the rain, out in the countryside and working in a hot dusty work area! It still lingered in the beard for around 5/6 hours which was really impressive.
Feel
As is my custom, I didn’t use any products other than Beard Shampoo for a couple of days before testing this out. After using it for the week I could feel that my beard was softer. My greys, the wiry whiskers, did feel less wiry but they didn’t soften up to match in with the rest of the beard.
The Apricot and Sweet Almond oils are what help keep the hair hydrated and mousturised. They also help with softening the hair as well and they do the trick here. There is also some Jojoba oil which can really benefit the beard. The only problem was that the oil is a bit thin. This meant I needed more drops than usual to cover my beard fully.
Skin
My skin felt hydrated after the week and there were no issues with any itchy skin. The use of Aloe Vera Juice and Grape Seed oils really help to nourish the skin underneath the beard.
The oil is quite thin so didn’t leave any residue and soaked into the skin nicely leaving it feeling smooth. I do like a thicker oil generally but in this case it worked okay.
Value for Money and Conclusion
Priced at £9.95 for 30ml, I have to say this is very good value for money. It’s a decent oil with a long-lasting fragrance that smells good. What more could you want?
The fact that it does everything you would expect from a more Premium priced oil says all you need to know. If you have £10 spare and you’re looking for a new beard oil to try then Outlaws is for you!
