The thing about life is you never know what will happen next. Unless you can see into the future or you’re a time traveler! I guess that is what scares a lot of people or maybe excites them. You could win the lottery, get a new job or even just get a good nights sleep! That’s the thing about life…
Where are you going?
I guess that is the question we all ask ourselves. Where am I going? What is my goal? This is something I ask myself every day and the answer is often different.
Why? Well, it all depends on a number of factors. First of all, what am I doing that day? If I am going to work then my goal would be different to if I am on a day off from work. There are different things that need to be achieved every day.
I am digressing a little bit, or maybe I am leading you away from the real answer here. It isn’t really about what you are wanting to achieve on any given day, although that is also important. It is the long game. The ultimate goal.
You can have several different goals in your life. For example, you could have a fitness goal. You can also have a career goal. How you reach them and what you do to motivate yourself can vary from one goal to another.
The constant in your goal or goals is you. What are you doing to make sure you achieve your targets? Are you being realistic?
You also need to think about being consistent. Are you doing your best every day to help yourself achieve what you need to?
Where is this going?
You are probably wondering where all this is going and I don’t blame you! Let me explain. I have set myself several fitness goals recently. Doing the Couch to 5k is one of them. Everything was going well and then………..life!
Or rather injury, but that is life isn’t it. It was my knee and it took a couple of days to calm down and then I hit the road again. BANG! There goes my back. And now I’m unable to run. Does this mean I won’y achieve my goal?
No! But it does delay it. It also starts to demotivate you and this can play a part in not getting to where you want to. The back will get better but now I have to focus on something else. The goal goes on the back burner (no pun intended!) and you slowly let it fade away. That’s the thing about life, it gets in the way!
Easy to say, not so easy to do! The trick is to keep thinking about the goal. Write about it, talk about it, never let it slip away. Keep yourself motivated and as soon as you can, get back on the horse.
Push yourself through the barriers that you have put up for yourself and make it happen!
The thing about life…
Is that you never know what is going to happen next. Make that change you’ve been talking about. Apply for the job you really want. Hell, quit the job you really hate!
Whatever you do, don’t let life get in the way. Use it, bend it to your will and make life fit in around you!
Thanks for stopping by and reading my waffle! As always it’s much appreciated!
take care and stay motivated
